America gets a lot wrong. One thing it gets right: 1st Amendment protection for political speech. Well, that and the bald eagle.

Unless someone is explicitly inciting violence against a specific person or group, people should be able to say whatever they want— even if some may interpret what they say as hateful.

Imagine if Trump had the ability to restrict speech in such a fashion. Agreed — speech must be protected from government, because it's only a matter of time before an authoritarian will use their power against you.

This is so stinking cool. Where else would one go for a rundown of free expression news across the world? Please keep doing this, Sarah!

Chipping away at freedom of speech and freedom of conscience.

The phrase "From the river to the sea" is often said to be calling for genocide, even by at least one author writing for FIRE, but as the next line, "Palestine will be free", makes clear, it calls only for a change in government, not the murder of anyone. And the government of Israel has proven it NEEDS to be replaced. I know, we're exhorted to affirm "Israel has a RIGHT to exist", but that's absurd. Did Nazi Germany have a right to exist? And yes, I am comparing Israel's government to that horrible, genocidal regime 80 years ago: we see the same wanton murder of innocents, the same expressed determination to conquer all its neighbors for more "lebensraum", and same serene assertion of self-evident racial superiority to anyone else on earth. The Israel experiment has been tried, and it has failed.

“The South will Rise Again” also doesn’t explicitly call for the murder of anyone. Neither does “Sieg Heil.”

Free speech shouldn't come with arrest warrants. Stupidity should. If they can't answer which river and which sea - and which body of water is westernmost, then death penalty.
