So many people want to run other people's lives! And to act sanctimonious and self-righteous about it at the same time. Our founders must be spinning in their graves.
Most art is bad. You can choose to just ignore it. Or you can choose to make fun of it. Or you can choose to make your own, better, art. What you can't do is remove other people's ability to choose, because that makes you the baddie. And it forces principled people that otherwise agree with you about bad art to ally with bad artists against authoritarians that seek to control others.
I don’t care Nathaniel. We can ban pornography and obscenity. We don’t permit 12 year olds to fornicate in the middle of the street, and we can just as easily disallow obscenity. You are on the wrong side of this, period.
Huh? This discussion is about forced censorship for consenting adults. Nobody said anything about kids.
You can't actually ban pornography. First, the very structure of the internet doesn't allow it from a technical standpoint. Second, adults that want it will simply create a black market for it. There are very good reasons to dislike legal pornography, but without lawful regulation illegal pornography becomes much, much, much worse.
You also can't ban obscenity for the simple reason that you can't legally define it. I guarantee there is something you think is fine that someone else thinks is obscene.
You are a fool. Of course you can ban pornography from the internet. Courts have plenty of power to make this happen. And many companies do it already, without the law requiring it. You’re just clinging to obscenity because you have some form of sinful pleasure you don’t want to stop, and banning and suppressing pornography is proof that society CAN govern acceptable behaviors for that society.
Don’t worry - we’ll drag you kicking and screaming into the internet pornography free future. You will like it once you don’t have a choice.
COMSTOCKERY. Good one. Should be added to the American Dictionary

Make Comstock laws great again!
Obscenity laws? Nah, I love art too much.
This “art” exception always ends with piss christ. Every single time.

Crap history. Worse conclusions based on it.
