My interest here was whether or not Arday was genuinely autistic, not in the "neurodivergent" favorability of the medical-industrial complex but whether he was genuinely autistic. I am of the opinion that he was.
Copying is not necessarily plagiarism if it's utilized as an exercise of understanding - it's an autistic's equivalent of comprehension. But "normal" persons do this as well, such as JS Bach copying Vivaldi's violin concertos as a prelude to creating his very own.
Also, was Joseph Arday a public figure? If not, then the mass media frenzy launched at him isn't fair at all. But of course, if he was outright copying someone else's work and claiming it as his very own for some profit such as a book deal then that would be plagiarism.
Thanks for reading! And I think it's hard to argue someone isn't a public figure if a major publisher is printing their memoir (not to mention a prominent role in academia)
A person's circumstances, whether living or not, may in fact be due to their own actions and not someone else's. It's not always them over there. It's more frequently me, right here.
Good article.

Yes publishing a memoir would be on the level of a public figure, but someone that is a professor could be a private figure.
