How do we stop it?

It's not just social media, and it's already happening here in the US. My 12 year old daughter wanted to buy a Fitbit and found a deal on one on Amazon. She doesn't have a phone, so she installed the Google Health app on her iPad. But she needed a new Google account to use it. So we create one, and it asks for her birthday. We put that in and nope, it has to be tied to an adult to use the app. I add it to mine and Google Health lets her open the app... in kids mode, which will only connect to the special kids Fitbits. Not the regular one she bought. We try making her 13 (which is a whole set of hoops to now untie it from my account). Nope. It's supposed to work, but doesn't. We try to make her older, and now Google wants age verification. ID cards or facial image analysis. All this just to wear something to count steps and measure a heart rate.
