Thank you for taking up this cause and I hope FIRE can put up the most robust case possible. I don't agree with a word Khalil says, but his right to free speech is inviolable, and that is what these cases are about - protected speech and not actions. It could not be clearer, thanks to your research, although I was pretty sure already that this was protected speech and not actions. If Khalil is deported, we won't live this down easily. These rights are what make America America, and we mess with them at our peril and the peril of every American citizen and resident.

Freedom of speech, to be a meaningful principle, cannot be contained to "freedom of speech we like".

so why does that matter?

why does the USA government has to have a stronger cause for removing aliens than the causes it used to let them in ?

easy come easy go

"why does the USA government has to have a stronger cause for removing aliens than the causes it used to let them in ?"

Because once they're under US jurisdiction the Constitution applies.

is that a due process argument

a free speech argument

or is that from parts beyond the bill of rights?

surprisingly I am both not an american and not an american constitution scholar

A little of all three. Most importantly, I think, is that our ethics of justice is largely based on the idea that "it's better to let 10 guilty men go free than to imprison 1 innocent man." It's significantly worse to improperly deport someone than it is to improperly let them stay.

Enough with the bullshit. Khalil lied on his visa and green card applications and spent the better part of a year trespassing and vandalizing private property and harassing many people. He's not a fucking 1A martyr.
